The weather is finally warming up, which means it’s officially beach season in our beautiful neck of the woods, with plenty of freebie events! Here’s our round-up of some can’t-miss fixtures in the Brighton and Hove summer calendar.
Brighton Museum Free Day - 17th June: Happy Sussex Day
National Museum Day may have been on 18 May, but here in Brighton, museums are in full swing all summer. This June, Brighton Museum will be celebrating all things Sussex with a Museum Lab day, filled with fun family activities.
Martlets Hove Carnival - 29 May 2017
Hove will play host to one of a number of bright and colourful events this summer, including the Martlets Hove Carnival, all to help raise funds for life-saving care. Highlights include acrobatics and BMX Drum Stix Drummers.
Paddle Round the Pier 2017 - 1 July 2017 - 2 July 2017
Paddle Round the Pier has become an iconic Brighton event which celebrates the glorious weather (fingers crossed), Brighton Beach and its historic West Pier. Whether you go for glory on the water or prefer a chilled paddle, it’s a fun day out for all.
Brighton Thai Festival - 26 Aug 2017
Taste the magical flavours of Thailand at this two-day free event on the green lawns of Preston Park. Experience new dishes and discover a vibrant culture right here on our doorstep.
Street Food & Makers Market - 10 June, 12 August, 2 September 2017
Brighton is famed for its pop up street food vendors, particularly in the summer months. The Brighthelm Centre will be staging not just one but three events this year, so if you miss the first and second, get down to the third to sample street foods courtesy of local vendors.
Royal Pavilion Garden Art Day - 30 June 2017
The Royal Pavilion Garden Art Day this June is as idyllic as it sounds. The estate is inviting established and budding artists to use the garden to interpret the gardens and palace in their own way. Talks will be given by those that tend the gardens and all activities are free!
Brighton Naked Bike Ride 2017 - 11 June 2017
The Brighton Naked Bike Ride is dubbed as a ‘protestival’ joy ride through the city followed by a sea swim and beachfront after-party. The event, which has been running/riding since 2006, will take place at the same time as other cycles across the South East.
Brighton Latin Festival - 24 June 2017
2017 marks the first Latin Festival ever to be staged in Brighton. The Latin community has joined forces for what promises to be a vibrant day filled with workshops, performances and dancing.
Summer Fiesta with Circus Pazaz - 2 July 2017
If you love a performance, the Circus Pazaz in Hove Park this July will be the perfect day out. Shows include Zumba, flamenco, cheerleading and samba. Circus show times are 12pm, 1.45 and 3.30pm. The event is free to enter but circus tickets are £5.97.
