The staycation trend is here to stay as more of us realise that sun, sea and sand can be enjoyed closer to home. With leading attractions, natural beauty, and plenty of places to stay, the Sussex sunshine coast is one of the best ready-made staycation destinations in the UK. To help you plan your time in our corner of the South East, we’ve put together our own week-long family itinerary. Enjoy your stay!

Blackberry Farm - Take the kids over to Blackberry Farm on a sunny day to meet and feed more than 180 animals all year-round. Family activities include tractor rides, pony rides and soft play. The farm cafe is open all day and serves hot meals and light bites for little tums.

Bodiam Castle - Let your imaginations run wild inside the towering walls of Bodiam Castle: an archetypal 14th century moated castle. The picturesque monument once welcomed knights, but today it opens its doors to thousands of visitors every year. Seasonal events run throughout the year, so take a look at the Bodiam Castle website to plan your visit.

Brighton Marina - Just a short drive away from Brighton’s bustling pier along the seafront lies Brighton Marina: a colourful family-friendly entertainment outpost overlooking Brighton beach. To-do highlights include bowling, watching the latest release at Cineworld and fitting in a game of indoor mini-golf, surrounded by ultraviolet dinosaurs - only in Brighton!

Drusillas Park - Prepare for an action-packed day out at Drusillas Park in Eastbourne, widely regarded as one of the best small zoos in the UK. Fun at the park includes animal encounters, climbing and sliding in one of its play areas, and saying hello to Hello Kitty in Europe’s first Hello Kitty attraction.

Nymans garden - Nymans, one of the National Trust’s premiere gardens, is perfect for nature lovers for every season. Home to ancient woodland, colourful summer blooms, and elegant houses, once owned by the Messel Family. The site includes a large shop, cafe, a small gallery and plant centre. Situated just off the A23, Nymans is not only beautiful but highly accessible by car.

Royal Pavilion - Brighton’s royal palace takes pride of place in the centre of the city, surrounded by lush gardens, the Brighton Museum and Art Museum, and cafes and shops. Built for King George IV, the Asian-inspired monument has been bound to the identity of Brighton for more than 200 years. Again, the Pavilion is part of the 2FOR1 train ticket scheme, and tickets are 10% cheaper when you book online.
